You must have a tax invoice to claim a GST credit for purchases that cost more than A$82.50 (including GST). Your supplier has 28 days to provide you with a tax invoice after you request one. Wait until you receive it before you claim the GST credit, even if this is in a later reporting period.

ITC Claim Process: How to Claim Input Tax Credit
Obtain a Valid GST Invoice: Ensure that all business purchases are supported by a valid tax invoice, debit note or bill of entry to show that GST has been paid. ITC cannot be asserted without these documents.

Tips to reconstruct your records:
Review bank statements and credit card statements. They are usually a good list of what you paid. They may also be a good substitute if you don't have a receipt. Vendors and suppliers may have duplicate records.
If the total amount of deductions you're claiming is more than $300, you must have written evidence (such as a receipt or invoice) to show you incurred and weren't reimbursed for the expenses you claim. The written evidence and records you keep must prove the total amount you claim, not just the amount over $300.
$300 maximum claims rule
This rule states that if the total of your work-related expenses is $300 or less (not including car, travel, and overtime meal expenses, which can be claimed separately), you can claim the total amount as a tax deduction without receipts.

Even though GST may be paid on certain inputs, it often can't be claimed back if the output is GST-free or input taxed. Section 17(5) – The following items are ineligible and thus, no credit can be claimed on such purchases.
To get your GST refund, you will need to apply for it through the GST portal by submitting a refund application form. The application will be processed and verified by the GST department, and if approved, the refund amount will be credited to your bank account.
