To set up Tap to Pay on iPhone, enable it in the payment app of your choice. To accept a payment, open the app, enter the amount, and present your iPhone to your customer. To pay, the customer holds their card horizontally or places their device directly over the payment symbol.
Note: Tap to Cash is supported on all iPhone models with iOS 18 or later and all Apple Watch models with watchOS 11 or later.
Send money in the Wallet app using Apple Cash
On your iPhone, open the Wallet app. Then tap your Apple Cash card. Tap Send or Request, then select or add the person you want to send money to. Tap Next, then enter the amount you want to send.
With Tap to Cash, users can send or receive Apple Cash* by holding two iPhone or Apple Watch devices together. When money is transferred, it's private—your phone number and email aren't shared.
To use Tap to Cash, select your Apple Cash card in the Wallet app. Tap “Send or Request” then Tap to Cash. Authorize your payment with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode, then hold your device near someone else's. You can even add Tap to Cash to Control Center for easy access.
But Apple Cash can also serve as a mobile payment app like PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo. That means you can send money to people, and the funds are taken out of your Apple Cash balance. You can also request money from other people, and the funds are added to your balance.
Tap to Pay on iPhone and Tap to Pay on Android are free to set up. With both Tap to Pay products, you'll only pay a small transaction fee of 1.69% on each payment you take with your smartphone.
You'll need an iPhone XS or newer, and the phone must be running iOS 15.5 or later, to use Tap to Pay on iPhone. Tap to Pay is not currently available on iPad.
Follow these instructions on your iPhone or any other Apple device: Launch the Cash App on your Apple phone. On the main screen, tap the Cash Card tab, which looks like a little credit card. Click on your Cash Card image.
With Apple's Tap to Pay feature, vendors can use an iPhone to securely accept in-person contactless payments. In other words, Tap to Pay makes it possible to turn an iPhone into a point-of-sale (POS) terminal.
It all depends on your needs, but currently, according to experts in this area, the two most secure are Apple Pay and Venmo. Choose whichever you please to use, but remember to take precautions to ensure security when using each platform.
Does it cost extra to use Apple Pay? No. Apple does not charge any fees when you pay with Apple Pay — in stores, online, or in apps.
On your new iPhone, review the Data & Privacy screen that appears, then tap Continue. Wait for the Transfer Data from [”current device”] screen to appear, then tap Continue. If the Transfer Your Data screen appears instead, tap Transfer from iPhone.
During its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 keynote, Apple introduced a new addition to its suite of payment services: Tap to Cash. This feature enables users to send and receive Apple Cash by holding two iPhone devices together, eliminating the need to share phone numbers.
Can I send money to Cash App without an account? You need an account to send money to another person's Cash App account, but the reverse is not true. You can send money to a person who doesn't have an account from the app if you have their email address or phone number.
