Yes, Mastercard supports tap-to-pay (contactless) technology. Almost all new Mastercard debit and credit cards feature a contactless symbol (four curved lines) on the front, allowing for quick "tap-and-go" payments at terminals. You can also add your Mastercard to digital wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay for mobile tapping.
No more reaching for your card
Your Mastercard is stored in Click to Pay, so just look for the icon at checkout.
Cards that have contactless capabilities will have the word "contactless" and may also have a contactless symbol on the card. If a merchant doesn't have this capability, you'll need to insert your chip card into the terminal.
Make sure your card is activated for contactless payments, check if it's damaged, and ensure you haven't exceeded the transaction limit. If all else fails, use chip and PIN instead. Why isn't my tap card working? Your tap card might not work if it's damaged, dirty, or has reached its contactless limit.
You can choose to tap your card against the contactless enabled terminal for convenience and speed. Where can I make a contactless payment? You can use your contactless card or digital wallet anywhere Mastercard® is accepted and you see contactless symbol at the checkout terminal.
You can now make secure purchases above the contactless limit** in participating shops across the world using your Mastercard with Apple Pay.

Understanding contactless cards
There is no need to swipe or insert. This type of transaction—often called “tap to pay” or “tap and go”—can be a quick and convenient way to pay. Not all credit cards are contactless, although most card issuers have made them the default type of card they issue.
With your contactless credit or debit card
on your credit or debit card to know your card can make contactless payments. Contactless Visa card purchases are easier than ever as more retailers accept contactless payments around the world.
Note: If you can't add your card, it may not be supported by Apple Pay, or your issuer may need to approve it first. Contact your bank or card issuer, or see the Apple Support article If you can't add a card to Apple Wallet to use with Apple Pay.
Look for the symbol with four curved lines that get larger from left to right. This symbol, found on the front or back of your card, resembles the Wi-Fi icon. Our cards now come with contactless functionality as standard.
Just Tap & go®
Contactless payment puts you in control and protects your data though enhanced security. Your card or device never leaves your hand, reducing the risk of loss or fraud. You're also protected against double billing, even if you accidentally tap twice.
Because contactless payments require neither PIN nor signature authorisation, lost or stolen contactless cards can be used to make fraudulent transactions.
The Wi-Fi-looking symbol on a debit or credit card is the EMVCo Contactless Indicator*. It indicates that your card can be used to tap to pay on a contactless-enabled payment terminal.

If you have questions about why your card is declined, contact your bank or card issuer. To use Apple Pay you need a supported card from a participating card issuer. To check if your card is compatible with Apple Pay, contact your card issuer. Apple Pay is not available in all markets.
This decision is a reflection of Apple shifting strategy away from owning and servicing installment loans, and toward elevating Apple Pay as a digital payment platform.
