To turn off Tap to Pay, disable NFC (Near Field Communication) on your phone, as this powers contactless payments. On Android, go to Settings > Connections > NFC and toggle it off. On iPhone, there is no direct NFC toggle, but you can disable the "Double-Click Side Button" feature in Wallet & Apple Pay settings.
Disable Tap to Pay on iPhone
You can de-activate your card's Tap to Pay function at a branch or by calling the Card Call Centre on 0861 462 273.
you can turn off and on contactless for debit cards and digital wallet payments using our app by selecting Manage Cards, then selecting Contactless.
In the TAP app in the Cards section, select the virtual TAP card you are currently using to tap and pay. Scroll down and press “Remove From Phone.” Confirm by pressing “Yes, Remove It.” NOTE: Once your TAP card is removed, it will still appear in the Cards section as unavailable.
Go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay. Tap the card that you want to remove. Tap Remove Card.
To turn off screen taps on an iPhone, you usually disable Tap to Wake in Settings > Accessibility > Touch to stop the screen from lighting up with a tap. For more control or to disable accidental back taps (like screenshots), go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap and set Double Tap/Triple Tap to "None". If you need to lock the screen without the power button, use the AssistiveTouch virtual button (Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch).
If there's an issue, change your payment method
From the list of merchant IDs, select Remove and confirm the removal for each merchant account ID to unlink your Apple ID from Tap to Pay on iPhone. Disable Tap to Pay in the Square app ≡ More > Settings > Account > Tap to Pay on iPhone > toggle off Tap to Pay on iPhone.

With tap to pay, your card stays securely in your possession at all times, eliminating the risk of a skimmer reading the magnetic stripe. Built on EMV Chip Technology: Contactless cards use the same underlying security as chip cards, which are extremely difficult to counterfeit.
Apple Pay uses the same technology that enables tap on credit and debit cards. While the process is similar, paying with Apple Pay does offer these additional benefits: You can use Apple Pay anywhere you can tap a debit or credit card, so you'll no longer need to bring your wallet with you everywhere you go.

Disable Tap to Pay on iPhone
On iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro, open the Settings app, tap Wallet & Apple Pay, then turn off Apple Cash. For Apple Watch, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, tap Wallet & Apple Pay, then turn off Apple Cash.
Users can opt out of One Tap if they disable the Google Account sign-in prompts flag in the Apps with access to your account page. The opted-out sessions aren't shown in One Tap. If all Google sessions are opted out, One Tap doesn't display.
