To update Apple Pay, you typically go to the Wallet app on your iPhone to manage cards (tap card > Card Details) or update your Settings > [Your Name] > Payment & Shipping for your Apple ID, while newer cards with new numbers often require removing the old one in Wallet and adding the new one, then verifying with your bank. For subscriptions/media, update via Settings > [Your Name] > Payment & Shipping; for cards in Wallet, update billing address in Card Details, or add/remove/set default in Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay.
Change your default card, address, and preferences for Apple Pay
To update an expired credit card in Apple Wallet, you usually remove the old card and add the new one, as the expiration date often doesn't update automatically unless your bank supports it; open the Wallet app, select the expired card, tap the dots/More button, choose Remove Card, then tap the Add (+) button to add your new physical card details.
When your card is replaced, your Apple Pay will update automatically to reflect your new card number and your card will remain active on Apple Pay throughout. Please note that if you are changing to a new product, you must manually add your new card onto Apple Pay.
To change a payment method, you need to go to the account settings for the specific service (like Google Play, Apple ID, or a website/app) and find the "Payment Methods" or "Billing" section to add a new card/account, edit an existing one, or set a new default. For most apps/stores, it's a few taps in your profile/settings, while for web services, you'll log in and find it in your account/payment settings.

To update your payment details
If you have questions about why your card is declined, contact your bank or card issuer. To use Apple Pay you need a supported card from a participating card issuer. To check if your card is compatible with Apple Pay, contact your card issuer. Apple Pay is not available in all markets.
To get started on iPhone, open the Wallet app and tap the plus symbol. Then add a credit or debit card by tapping the back of your iPhone with your eligible card. You'll have the option to add your card to your other devices at the same time. When you want to pay, just double-click, tap, and you're set.
Your new card details will be automatically updated in Apple Pay. For your remaining Business credit cards, when you receive your new replacement cards, you will have to remove your old credit cards from Apple Pay by going to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay.
Answer is to contact your card issuing Bank as they are validating expiry date of the card that you are adding to Apple Pay. So when adding your card to Apple Wallet for ApplePay and get "Incorrect expiry date" message double check if you entererd a correct card expiry date.
The primary issue with an expired debit card is you can't use it to pay in any context. However, you can access your bank account if your debit card expires, pay by ACH, and use mobile banking features. In addition, your bank account will still be active.
If your debit or credit card expires, no action is required as your card information will be updated automatically with the new expiry date. However if you receive a new card with a new number, then you will have to remove your old card and add the new one.
No, Apple Pay and Apple Wallet aren't the same, but they work together: Apple Wallet is the app (your digital container) that stores your credit/debit cards, loyalty cards, tickets, and passes, while Apple Pay is the technology/service that uses those cards in the Wallet to make secure, contactless payments in stores, online, and in apps. Think of the Wallet as your physical purse and Pay as the tap-to-pay function.
Check the default card in your account
Make sure the default card you're using for Apple Pay has sufficient funds and hasn't expired. If the card is the issue, you can switch to another card in your account. If you need to add a new card, check out our guide on how to add a credit card to Apple Pay.
