Using the TAP app to pay your fare is easy! Hold your phone screen next to the TAP dial when boarding the bus and wait for it to collect your fare. It takes a few seconds and you're on your way. Note: The TAP App can't be used as a pass if your phone's battery dies.
Open Settings. In the “Search settings” bar, type NFC. Ensure NFC is turned on. Ensure that you enable contactless payments for the linked card.
To set up Tap to Pay on iPhone, enable it in the payment app of your choice. To accept a payment, open the app, enter the amount, and present your iPhone to your customer. To pay, the customer holds their card horizontally or places their device directly over the payment symbol.
What is the difference between Apple Pay and Apple Wallet? Apple Pay is a safe way to pay and make secure purchases in stores, in apps, and on the web. Apple Wallet is the place where you store your credit or debit cards so you can use them with Apple Pay.
To add the plastic TAP card issued by your school to your phone, press (“Add card icon”), choose “Register a TAP Card” enter the card information. Once your card has been added to your account, press “Transfer Card to Apple Wallet” (iOS) or “Transfer Card to Phone” (Android).
Restart your iPhone or iPad. Make sure that your screen is clean and free of any debris or water. Disconnect any Lightning or USB-C accessories. If your screen works after removing an accessory, try using a different outlet, cable, or charger.

Ensure you are using a phone that is supported by the TAP app. Confirm your Android phone is running on software version 11 or above. Check that you have a Wi-Fi or cellular connection. Confirm that you have NFC capabilities on your phone and that NFC is turned on.
Paying is Convenient and Contactless
Simply hold your iPhone or Apple Watch near the TAP dial when boarding a bus or train, and that's it.
Some phones require that the owner enable the NFC "tap" setting on their device. This typically comes enabled on most newer phones, but if the tap card isn't working for a specific device, the user should check to make sure they have NFC enabled.
This error occurs during setup on a new device if there is insufficient space to load Tap to Pay on iPhone. Insufficient space can be caused by having too many payment cards setup in Apple Wallet. Try removing one or more cards from Apple Wallet and then try to use Tap to Pay on iPhone again.
To help ensure the protection of the merchant device and data, the merchant has the option to enable the “Tap to Pay on iPhone Screen Lock” setting. This option is found in the settings for each app that supports Tap to Pay on iPhone. Enabling this option locks the merchant's device while showing the PIN entry screen.
Double-click the side button. When your default card appears, authenticate with Face ID or your passcode. Hold the top of your iPhone near the card reader until you see Done or a checkmark on the screen.

While the process is similar, paying with Apple Pay does offer these additional benefits: You can use Apple Pay anywhere you can tap a debit or credit card, so you'll no longer need to bring your wallet with you everywhere you go.
