Ask for forgiveness.
Once you have put together this great mountain of debt, bring it to the Lord and ask Him to forgive you for your part in having created it. You may not be responsible for all of it but some of your debt may be due to foolishness, carelessness, love of luxury or lack of self-control.
Lord Heavenly Father, give me the compassion, understanding and charity to understand that the person i lent money to is not able to pay back and so i should be able to write off the debt without hatred or anger.
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7, NIV). There are so many benefits to giving. Always. We encourage you to continue doing it even as you dig your way out of debt.
Exodus 22:14 - If anything is borrowed, it should be paid back. If what is borrowed is lost or injured, full restitution must be made. Ps 37:21 - The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives. The Bible is clear that when something is borrowed is should be paid back.
“Heavenly Father, I lift this person up to you and put this situation in your hands. Please give me wisdom. Please bless this person financially so they will never feel the need to borrow in the future. Your ways are not our ways.
Similarly, in Deuteronomy 15, God says that every seven years, creditors should “remit the claim that is held against a neighbor” because “the Lord's remission has been proclaimed.” In the New Testament, Jesus instructs his followers to pray “forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors” (Matthew 6:12, ...
I humbly ask for your supernatural intervention to help me eliminate my debt. Please provide me with the resources, opportunities, and wisdom to overcome this financial hardship. You will make a way when I don't see a way. Matthew 21:22 “And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
The Bible never says that going into debt is a sin. However, it issues a very stark warning: “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender”.
You are the God who provides all my needs according to your riches in Glory. I come to You as I am struggling financially, asking for your provision. Remove my fear, doubt, and unbelief. Fill me with Your peace and confidence in the promise of your care for me in time of need.
Turning to Bible verses for financial struggles can be incredibly helpful. Verses such as Philippians 4:19, which states, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus,” are a reminder that God is a faithful provider.
Bankruptcy: You can file for bankruptcy, which in certain cases includes full or partial debt forgiveness. Balance transfers: You can consider taking out a personal loan or opening a zero-interest credit card to transfer your balance and pay off your debt.
Proverbs 22:26-27
"Be not one of those who give pledges, who put up security for debts. If you have nothing with which to pay, why should your bed be taken from under you?"
Listen, if you're knee-deep in a money crisis of your own, I'm here to tell you: God has your back! Trust me, I know it's tough to trust God when you have no money. And although we may feel blindsided or overwhelmed, God doesn't! He'll provide a way through to the other side.
Debts are produced by thoughts of lack, impatient desire, and covetousness. A thought of debt will produce debt. As long as we believe in debt, we shall go into debt and accumulate the burdens that follow this thought. When such thoughts are erased from consciousness, our debts are overcome and paid in full.
Lord Jesus, I come before you, just as I am, I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In your Name, I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. I give you my entire self, Lord Jesus, now and forever.
We can and should ask God for financial help, but always in the light of what the true purpose of prayer is—to lead us into a closer relationship with and obedience to God (James 4:8). We can pray for financial miracles but should do so with a humble, patient, and trusting heart.
“The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously.” Psalm 37:21. As Christians, we know that paying our debts is important.
ESV Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. NIV Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done. NASB One who is gracious to a poor person lends to the Lord, And He will repay him for his good deed.
In Leviticus 25, we find the first reference to Jubilee, as part of the law given by Yahweh to the Israelites. These verses describe God's intent that the Israelites should remain free from slavery for all time by instituting a Sabbath year every seven years.
Psalm 37:21 (NIV):”The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously.” – Repaying debts is seen as a matter of integrity and righteousness. Being responsible with what we borrow reflects our character and commitment to doing what is right.
Dear God, I come before you with a heart full of anxiety and worry about my finances. But as I meditate on this verse, I am reminded of your promise to bless the work of my hands and provide for my needs. You have promised to open your storehouse of blessings and pour them out on me.
Jesus, the debt burden is weighing on me, stressing me out, and affecting my life negatively. So I come to You by faith and lay the burden of this right here, at Your feet, trusting You to take the weight of it and help me deal with it.
