Typically bank fraud investigations take up to 45 days.
The bank initiates a payment fraud investigation, gathering information about the transaction from the cardholder. They review pertinent details, such as whether the charge was a card-present or card-not-present transaction. The bank also examines whether the charge fits the cardholder's usual purchasing habits.
An account freeze resulting from an investigation will usually last for about ten days. However, there's no set limit for how long a freeze may last. A bank can effectively suspend your account at any time for as long as they need to in order to complete a thorough investigation.

Report Scams to Your Local Government
Start by reporting the scam to your state consumer protection office. If you lost money or other possessions in a scam, report it to your local police too.
Call your bank's 800 number and select the option to speak with a representative. Ask for full details about the debit card transaction. Give the amount and date that it hit your account. You will receive the company name, transaction ID and phone number.
Unfortunately, the answer is not very often. Less than 1 percent of all credit card fraud cases are actually solved by law enforcement. This means that if you are a victim of credit card fraud, your chances of getting your money back are pretty slim.
