Once we've received all of the documentation needed to determine whether you qualify for loan forgiveness, you'll be notified. A final review of your account will be done to process forgiveness, which will take at least 90 business days.
Here's how: From the account dashboard click ``view details'' in the pie chart section Scroll down to loan breakdown... you should see all of your loans listed. Click on view loan details, and you will be able to see your PSLF counts.

If you faxed or mailed your PSLF form to MOHELA it may take up to 14 days for your mohela.com account to note that the form was received. Please allow at least 90 business days for your form to be processed.
Track Your PSLF form status and history
Once you've submitted a PSLF form, you can track its progress by logging in to StudentAid.gov using your account username and password and selecting “My Activity” in the dropdown menu under your name in the upper right-hand corner.

In October 2023, the U.S. Department of Education disclosed that MOHELA failed to send monthly student loan bills to 2.5 million borrowers, resulting in 800,000 borrowers missing a monthly payment.
If you made payments after your 120th qualifying payment, those payments will be treated as overpayments and refunded to you if you have no additional outstanding loans. If your qualifying payment total is at 120 or more, your account is eligible to be placed into forbearance and no payment is due.
There will be a pause in processing for all PSLF forms while we transition the program to ED. Beginning on May 1, 2024, you are no longer able to access your PSLF progress, certified employment, or payment counts on MOHELA's borrower portal.
PSLF only works if you have a remaining loan balance after 120 qualifying payments.
Important: If your employer is a for-profit organization, a labor union, or a partisan political organization, it isn't an eligible PSLF employer regardless of the kinds of public services it might provide.

Required Commitment and Lengthy Duration
One of the notable drawbacks of PSLF for doctors is the required commitment. To be eligible for forgiveness, you must make 120 qualifying payments, which essentially means 10 years of service in a qualifying organization.

We will confirm that your employer is a qualifying employer based on the information provided on the PSLF form that you submit. In some cases, we may require additional documentation about your qualifying employment.
How Will I Find Out if I'm Approved for Student Loan Forgiveness? If you have applied for forgiveness under a program like the PSLF or Teacher Loan Forgiveness program, your student loan servicer will notify you regarding your loan being forgiven totally or partially with a remaining balance, depending on the program.
If you work in certain public service jobs and have made 120 payments on your Direct Loans, you may be eligible to have your loans forgiven. If some or all of your payments were not made on a qualifying repayment plan for PSLF, you may be able to receive loan forgiveness under a temporary opportunity.
However, if you're seeking a refund from MOHELA, you can expect the first check to arrive within 90 business days, and the rest within 60 days. Also note that you'll likely receive multiple refund checks rather than a single refund.
