GST refunds can be claimed within two years of the "relevant date" (usually the date of payment or export) by filing Form GST RFD-01, provided all necessary GSTR-3B returns are filed. Key scenarios include excess balance in the electronic cash ledger, exports with or without payment of tax, and accumulated input tax credit (ITC) due to an inverted tax structure.
The application for a GST refund must be submitted using form RFD 01 within two years from the relevant date. The form also requires approval from a Chartered Accountant. There are also numerous online tools to calculate GST refund.
Qualifying for the GST refund
