Exception Holds on Deposits
Another reason your check or cash deposit may not be showing up as planned is that the bank put an exception hold on the funds, which allows it to hold the deposit for a period that is longer than the standard hold periods established under the law.
If money is transferred but not received, the sender should contact the bank or service used to initiate the transfer to track the transaction. They can also contact the recipient's bank to inquire if the funds have been received.
Funds deposited electronically or by cash are generally available by the business day after the banking day they were deposited. Review your deposit account agreement for policies specific to your bank and your account. Refer to 12 CFR 229 "Availability of Funds and Collection of Checks (Regulation CC)."
Your bank may hold the funds according to its funds availability policy. Or it may have placed an exception hold on the deposit. If the bank has placed a hold on the deposit, the bank generally should provide you with written notice of the hold.
If your direct deposit hasn't hit in one to three days, check with your bank. It could be that there is a hold on your account or your account is new or overdrawn, or that the sum is large enough to warrant additional review.
Some financial institutions will add the deposit to your available balance but will not add it to the current balance until they verify the check is good and receives funds from the issuing bank. The other reason could be that you have an overdraft protection line of credit from your financial institution.
If you're ever in doubt about whether the money you deposited is available for use, you can simply contact your bank directly and ask. You can also check by visiting your bank's website, using your bank's mobile app or checking your available balance at an ATM.
What time of day does direct deposit hit? Usually, you'll have access to your direct deposit at the opening of business on your payday — by 9 a.m. In many cases, direct deposits hit accounts even earlier, often between midnight and 6 a.m. on payday morning.
How to prove your mortgage deposit. The way you'll need to evidence your mortgage deposit will depend on where it came from. For traditional deposit sources like personal savings, most lenders will want to see the money building up in your bank account over six months or more.

So, if it appears the refund was issued, but you still haven't received it, you can ask the IRS to do a refund trace. This is the process the IRS uses to track a lost, stolen, or misplaced refund check or to verify a financial institution received a direct deposit.
Be patient. Under the Electronic Funds Transfer Act, your financial institution is obligated to investigate the ATM mishap within 10 days (45 days if the bank is willing to credit the missing fund amount). They are required to notify you in writing once the inquiry is resolved. File a complaint.
That said, if you haven't received your direct deposit, it could be for several reasons: Your employer entered an incorrect date when processing your payroll. Processing is taking longer than usual due to holidays (payday falling on a bank holiday often delays direct deposits).
If you experience a direct deposit delay, it may be because your employer sent the payroll file later than usual or it may have been processed after the cutoff time. Wisely will post payroll as soon as we receive the file.
Because ACH transfers are processed in batches, direct ACH payments typically take one to three business days to appear in the recipient's account—longer than it generally takes to process wire transfers, credit card transactions, and ATM transactions. No international payments.
Generally, a bank must make the first $225 from the deposit available—for either cash withdrawal or check writing purposes—at the start of the next business day after the banking day that the deposit is made. The rest of the deposit should generally be available on the second business day.
Simply log onto your bank account profile and look at your checking account or savings account history. Depending on when payment was sent, your money could come up as pending direct deposit in either one of these accounts. Go into your bank account history to check the status of your money.
Although you won't likely be able to see the progress of your transaction between banks, you can communicate with your bank to see if the transaction has been processed and sent. The Trace ID is crucial to ensuring that a bank can track where funds are.

Check deposits: When you deposit a check into your account, some or all of the funds from the check might not be incorporated into your available balance until the check clears — which usually takes about two business days.
Some retailers don't process payments straight away so these will not appear in your pending transactions. The payment will appear when the retailer processes it, usually within a couple of days. Examples of offline payments include payments made on flights, parking, toll roads and market stalls.
