To pay GST online in India, you need your GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number), registered mobile number/email for OTP, and active net banking, credit/debit card, or UPI credentials. Access the GST Portal to create a CPIN (Challan) and complete the transaction.
To make the GST payment post-login to the GST Portal once the challan is generated, perform the following steps:
Goods and services tax (GST) is a tax of 10% on most goods, services and other items sold or consumed in Australia. If your business is registered for GST, you have to collect this extra money (one-eleventh of the sale price) from your customers.
The GST tax is paid by the grantor if using the direct generation skip strategy, or the beneficiary if using the generation-skipping transfer strategy. Keep in mind that the tax only applies to assets above the lifetime exemption amount.
Access the portal https://www.gst.gov.in. The GST Home page is displayed on the screen. II. To generate a challan, navigate to Services > Payments > Create Challan option.
Input your GSTIN (or temporary user/return preparer ID) and the captcha code. Enter the tax amounts for CGST, SGST, IGST, etc., and select your desired payment mode (with bank details if applicable). Re-enter your GSTIN in the designated field and click on “PROCEED”. Click “DOWNLOAD” to save the generated challan copy.
Create Challan Form (CRN) (Post Login, Representative Assessee) Step 1: Log in to the e-Filing portal with your user ID and password. Step 2: After logging in, select the PAN/Name of the assessee whom you are representing. Step 3: On the Dashboard of the selected assessee, click e-File > e-Pay Tax.
Method 1: Online Banking (Fastest – Under 3 Minutes)
Payment can then be remitted through any of the following modes: Internet banking (authorized banks only) Credit or debit card (authorized banks only) National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT) or real-time gross settlement (RTGS) (any bank, authorized or unauthorized)
Subtracting GST from Price
To calculate how much GST was included in the price, divide the total price by 11 ($1000∕11=$90.91). To calculate the price without GST, divide the price by 1.1 ($1000∕1.1=$909.09).
You have to start charging GST/HST on the supply that made you exceed $30,000. You exceed the $30,000 threshold 1 over the previous four (or fewer) consecutive calendar quarters (but not in a single calendar quarter).
Visit the official GST portal, i.e. https://www.gst.gov.in/.
Payments mandate a GST portal challan; online modes are preferred for amounts over ₹10,000, with 1% cash payment required if monthly turnover exceeds ₹50 lakh for some cases. Late fees apply at ₹200/day (₹100 CGST + ₹100 SGST), and interest at 18% p.a. on delays.
To make instalment payments online, you may use your bank or credit union's online banking site or mobile banking app. You do not need a remittance voucher to pay online. For more information, go to Pay online with your bank or credit union. Another way to make instalment payments online is to use My Payment.
You have a choice to register or not if it's less than that. You must register for GST if you reach the $75,000 turnover threshold or if it looks likely that you will exceed it. Once you've passed the turnover threshold, you must register within 21 days.
To make challan payment using Credit/Debit Card, perform the following steps before or/and after logging into GST Portal: 1. Select the Mode of E-Payment as Credit/Debit Card, select the bank, click on I agree to the terms and conditions checkbox, then click on MAKE PAYMENT button .
If the taxpayer is unable to pay GST on time due to some reason, an interest is charged on the GST payment. An interest on late payment of GST is of 18% per annum and will be charged for the days after the due date.
Ensure invoices include all mandatory details such as invoice number, date, GSTIN, HSN code, and taxable amount. Use the correct HSN/SAC codes based on the nature of goods/services. Refer to the GST rate schedule. Verify applicable GST rates (e.g., 5%, 12%, 18%, 28%) for the product/service being invoiced.
Direct Bank Transfers
They offer a straightforward, low-fee payment option that doesn't rely on credit cards or third-party processors. For businesses dealing with high-value purchases, bank transfers provide a secure and efficient way to move funds directly.
To pay taxes online, use the IRS website (IRS.gov), which offers options like IRS Direct Pay (free bank transfer), linking to your bank or credit/debit card, or through your IRS online account (IRS.gov/account) for more features, or use the EFTPS system for businesses and individuals. You'll need your tax details (SSN, filing status, etc.) and bank routing/account numbers (for Direct Pay) or card details, selecting the payment purpose (e.g., balance due, estimated tax) and date.
Generally, registered persons must file monthly returns in GSTR-3 and pay taxes by the 20th of the following month.
