The Gen X debt situation

Gen X (ages 43 to 58) not only carries the most debt on average of all the generations, but is also the debt leader in credit card and total non-mortgage debt.

Credit card debt forgiveness is rare, but your credit card issuer may be willing to negotiate with you. You can also consider debt relief options like finding a nonprofit credit counseling organization to help you resolve debts in a manageable way with less stress.
Meanwhile, the outstanding debt does not go away. The debt may be sold to a third-party collection agency. The collection agency can then pursue repayment, hoping to profit from the unpaid debt obligations it now owns. Once a collection agency has your account, things can potentially become tense.
The Standard Route is what credit companies and lenders recommend. If this is the graduate's choice, he or she will be debt free around the age of 58. It will take a total of 36 years to complete. It's a whole lot of time but it's the standard for a lot of people.

This means that the debt is no longer recoverable, including by legal action in the courts. However, it is always worth checking that your debt is actually statute barred.
It's a red flag for budgets. Though incomes are up, Americans are putting more on plastic and stretching to pay on time, reinforcing the precarious nature of cash flow.
For a score with a range of 300 to 850, a credit score of 670 to 739 is considered good. Credit scores of 740 and above are very good while 800 and higher are excellent.

A good rule to abide by is to not rely on a credit card for any kind of down payment. It will add to a larger cost and may be a sign that you shouldn't make the purchase. In addition, cash advances usually charge a higher rate than purchases.
