When transferring to or from your U.S. Bank account same business day transfers cut-off times are as follows: Checking, savings and reserve lines: 12 a.m. local time. Checking or savings payments to a first mortgage: 4:30 p.m. CT. All other accounts: 6:00 p.m. local time.
Generally, we finish processing the current business day's transactions, and updating account balances, by 8 a.m. CT on the next business day. For example, if you're following up on a check that may have cleared on Tuesday, the information should be available after 8 a.m. CT on Wednesday.
Where you're sending or receiving funds. Domestic wire transfer: Due to EFAA regulations, most bank-to-bank wire transfers between accounts in the US are completed within 24 hours. Some banks make wired funds available to recipients immediately, especially on transfers between accounts at the same institution.
The Expedited Funds Availability Act (EFAA) mandates every financial institution in the US to credit funds to a recipient within a business day. As a result, wire transfers within the country are generally cleared within 24 hours.
A night cycle, created in 1979, is used to process Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers (debits and credits) at night—generally between 10:00 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
Is there a cut-off time for sending a wire transfer? Yes. For same-day domestic wire transfers, funds can only be sent on business days between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CT.
Same-day ACH, which typically requires an additional fee, processes the same business day. For regular ACH payments, ODFIs generally settle at 8:30 AM the following business day for debit requests, and 8:30 AM the second business day for credits.
When you send a wire transfer, you'll receive a Federal Reference number, or fed number, that confirms the transaction¹. If you're worried about your payment, you can contact the sending bank and request a trace on the wire transfer using the reference number¹.
What time of day does direct deposit hit? Usually, you'll have access to your direct deposit at the opening of business on your payday — by 9 a.m. In many cases, direct deposits hit accounts even earlier, often between midnight and 6 a.m. on payday morning.
Electronic payments can usually be made within one to two business days. Paper checks can take three to five business days to arrive. The calendar will automatically show you the earliest payment date. You can choose that date or pick another*; however, it must fall on a business day.

When will my money be available? The first $225 of your total daily deposits is usually available right away. The rest of your deposit amount will typically be available the next business day (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays) if your deposit was made before 10:00 p.m. Central time.
We send payments to other banks every hour between 9am and midnight every day. Payments submitted after midnight will be sent after 9am. Depending on the receiving bank's timeframes, the recipient could see the money in their account quickly after you make a payment or it may show overnight.

If transfers occur between accounts at the same financial institution, they can take less than 24 hours. Wire transfers via a non-bank money transfer service may happen within minutes. If you're sending money to another country, however, it may take as many as five days for the recipient to receive their funds.
It's stressful to figure out what to do if a wire transfer is lost. But the good news is that wire transfers are usually not lost – just delayed or misdirected. Most "lost" transfers are eventually found and completed, but it's important to get in touch with your bank right away if you suspect there's an issue.
