There is no limit on the value of the dispute that can be brought before the ombudsman. That said, the RBI Ombudsman can award compensation of up to ₹30 lakh for consequential financial loss and up to ₹3 lakh for non-financial losses such as harassment, mental anguish, or loss of time.
The Ombudsman will automatically assign a case number once you submit your request with an acknowledgment email sent to the email address that's been filled in on the form. The Office of the Ombudsman reviews all incoming requests for case assistance within 30 days.
If not satisfied write to the Controlling Office. If you still feel aggrieved write to the Nodal Officer for complaints of the concerned bank. If the Nodal Officer cannot redress your complaints and you still feel aggrieved approach Banking Ombudsman for a satisfactory resolution of the matter.

If after lodging your complaint your bank still fails to engage you and resolve the complaint within 2 weeks as provided for in the ATM HELP DESK Circular, you have the right to escalate your complaint to the Consumer Protection Department (CPD) of the CBN.
