States Without Capital Gains Taxes
I have some good news for Alaska, Florida, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wyoming residents, which are all states without a capital gains tax. These eight states also don't have a personal income tax.
Hawaii. Hawaii has the lowest property tax rate in the U.S. at 0.29%. The Aloha state has a home median value of $662,100.
Long-term capital gains tax rates typically apply if you owned the asset for more than a year. The rates are much less onerous; many people qualify for a 0% tax rate. Everybody else pays either 15% or 20%. It depends on your filing status and income.

Do I Have to Pay Capital Gains Taxes Immediately? In most cases, you must pay the capital gains tax after you sell an asset. It may become fully due in the subsequent year tax return. In some cases, the IRS may require quarterly estimated tax payments.
This means right now, the law doesn't allow for any exemptions based on your age. Whether you're 65 or 95, seniors must pay capital gains tax where it's due.
