Direct deposits don't arrive on Sundays. That's because the ACH network doesn't settle payroll information on weekends or holidays when the Federal Reserve is closed. If your regular payday is scheduled to fall on a weekend, most employers will schedule payments to go out on the Friday before.
The Time of Wire Transfer
Banks process wire transfers on the same day from Monday to Friday. As a result, money sent on weekends will have to wait for the next business day to be processed.

Occasionally, your deposit may not show up as planned because of a mix-up with the bank. You can look out for this by monitoring your account daily. When you deposit into your account, it should show up in your account history, even if the funds are not immediately available to you.

The published Third District Court of Appeal decision means that wages that would be due on a weekend under California labor law may be paid on the next day that is not a weekend or holiday (i.e., the next Monday or the next Tuesday if that Monday is a state-recognized holiday).
The role of business days and holidays
It's important to realize that weekends and federal holidays don't count as business days, even if your bank is open. If you make a deposit on or the day before a holiday, or on a weekend, you can expect to wait a little longer to access that money.
Here's what you need to know: Bank Hours: Many banks and financial institutions are closed on weekends, which means that wire transfers may not be processed until the next business day. However, some financial institutions may have extended hours or be open on weekends.
Most banks that have ATMs enable you to make deposits on Sundays. You'll need to insert your cash or check into the ATM using an envelope. The process differs for each bank and not all of them have this capability.
If your branch is closed or you don't want to wait in line, you can deposit cash with the ATM. Making cash deposits through ATMs is the closest you'll get to a cash deposit made directly at the bank itself. What's more, most banks and credit unions have far more ATM locations than they do physical bank branches.
Debit orders don't go off on public holidays and Sundays. Your service provider will move the debit order to the next working day or contact you if they're going to take the money earlier.
Saturday and Sunday: Weekend deposits (including ATM deposits) are processed on the next day's business as Saturdays and Sundays are considered part of Mondays business.
A direct deposit usually takes one to three days to go through. If you get a direct deposit on a day when the bank is open, the money has to be available to you by the following business day. You might wait an extra day or two if the deposit comes in right before a federal holiday or over the weekend.
