You have to tell your credit or debit card company about any error you're disputing within 60 days of when the first statement with the charge was sent to you.

Remember, you should wait one to three days until your charges post. You can only dispute charges that have already been posted. If you prefer not to submit a dispute online, you may do so in writing, or by calling customer service and disputing the charge over the phone.
A payment reversal can be initiated by the cardholder, merchant, issuing bank, acquiring bank, or card network. There are lots of reasons why a payment reversal may take place, such as: product is no longer in stock. product does not meet the expectations of the customer.
Disputed Charges represent the total of payments that have been contested and may result in chargebacks, which occur when your account is charged a fee to cover a contested amount. This can result in additional costs, including dispute fees and currency conversion fees, which can hurt your bottom line.
Can I dispute a credit card charge that I willingly paid for? There are many cases where you can make a claim for a credit card refund under Section 75, even if you agreed to the purchase. For example, the goods or services you received didn't meet the standards promised by the seller.
But if the dispute is valid, the issuer is legally obligated to reimburse the cardholder. The funds can come from one of two places. Either the issuer takes a financial hit and accepts the loss. Or, the issuer uses the card brand's dispute processes to revoke the money from the merchant and return it to the cardholder.
Authenticated debit order
You have previously authorised the mandate using your card and PIN. If there is a valid authenticated debit order and mandate: You can't dispute the debit order if the money deducted from your account matches the mandate.
Payment reversal type 1: Authorization reversal
If you or your employees notice something incorrect after submitting the authorization request, you can call your bank to stop the transaction from occurring. This is known as an authorization reversal, and it's highly preferable over a future chargeback or refund.
You can request a reversal up to 60 days after making the transaction. Some issuers also allow you to apply up to 180 days post-transaction. Once you have made the request, most issuers will give you a refund for fraudulent or unauthorised transactions within 1-2 days.
Charges for the wrong amount or date; Charges for goods and services that you ordered but did not receive or accept; Charges that you don't recognize and want more information about; and. Bills that have calculation errors or that didn't credit a payment or return that you made.
Contact the company or bank that issued the credit card or debit card. Tell them it was a fraudulent charge. Ask them to reverse the transaction and give you your money back.
First, the reversal must be sent to the bank within 24 hours of noticing the error and no later than 5 banking days after settlement. Then the payment originator must also reach out to the payment recipient to inform them a reversal is in progress.
If the customer's chargeback is denied, the merchant will get the transaction amount refunded to their account. If the chargeback is approved, the customer gets the purchase amount refunded to them.
Check transactions, transportation charges, and any form of taxes cannot be disputed through the bank and must be resolved directly with the merchant.
If either a consumer or a vendor notices something is wrong with the payment, they can contact the bank to stop the transaction going through. This is typically the payment reversal type which involves the least hassle for both customers and businesses.
Reach Out to Your Bank: Inform your bank or the payment service provider immediately about the erroneous UPI payment. They may have procedures in place to help you recover the money, especially if the payment was made recently.
Can you track someone who used your debit card online? While you can't personally track someone who used your debit card online, banks have systems to trace such activities. If you report the fraud, they can investigate the source and potentially work with law enforcement to find the perpetrator.
Your bank will process the debit orders assuming that the collecting party has a valid mandate in place. These debit orders can be reversed immediately if disputed within 40 days.
The Code of Banking Practice encourages a customer to report a debit order dispute to his bank and the bank to reverse an unauthorised debit order. In doing so, the bank is obliged to handle the debit order dispute in accordance with the applicable PASA rules.

If you used a credit card or point of sale loan to buy goods or services, then the transaction could be covered under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. This lets you raise a claim against your bank or lender for a breach of contract or misrepresentation by the supplier of goods or services.
