Candidates are allowed a maximum of six (6) attempts for the CFA Level 3 exam. These attempts apply to the computer-based testing (CBT) era, which began in 2021. Candidates may take the exam up to two times per calendar year, but they cannot sit for consecutive windows or windows less than six months apart.
Candidates who are unsuccessful after six attempts at the same level are no longer eligible to register —this applies to attempts under both existing and newly created accounts.
