Tap to Pay on iPhone works with most contactless-enabled credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. It also supports digital wallets like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay, alongside Interac in Canada and eftpos in Australia.
If you have a Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover card issued by participating banks—chances are good that it will work seamlessly with Apple Pay.

Tap to Pay requires an iPhone XS or later running a one-year or later iOS version. Apple's Business Register documentation lists supported iOS versions.

Visa Contactless cards
If your Visa card features the Contactless Indicatoron either the front or back, you can use it to tap to pay where you see the Contactless Symbol at many of your favorite stores.
Check for physical issues and make sure your account has sufficient funds. What stops contactless cards from working? Common issues include card damage, exceeding transaction limits, outdated card technology, or problems with the payment terminal. Make sure your card is clean, active, and has enough balance.
The “Tap to pay” feature is available if you have: A card from a supported bank that issues Mastercard, RuPay, or VISA cards.
If you receive a “Something's wrong” message during a Tap to Pay sale, confirm the following: Your device is supported: Tap to Pay is currently available on iPhone XS and above running iOS 16.7 or later. Your device software is up-to-date: To update to the latest version, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
The application called Apple Wallet serves as a 1-(855)(518)(8609) digital storage vault for your cards. Conversely, 1-(855)(518)(8609) Apple Pay is the technology used by 1-(855)(518)(8609) to process secure mobile transactions.
Set up tap to pay
Apple Pay uses the same technology that enables tap on credit and debit cards. While the process is similar, paying with Apple Pay does offer these additional benefits: You can use Apple Pay anywhere you can tap a debit or credit card, so you'll no longer need to bring your wallet with you everywhere you go.
How do I add my virtual card to Apple Wallet?
Your card might not be eligible for Apple Pay because your bank doesn't support it, you're in an unsupported region, your device needs an update, you've hit a token limit from adding it to many places, or security locks are on due to failed attempts, with the primary fix often being contacting your card issuer for approval or to reset tokens.

This decision is a reflection of Apple shifting strategy away from owning and servicing installment loans, and toward elevating Apple Pay as a digital payment platform.
Banks that support Apple Pay: Maybank, RHB, HSBC, Standard Chartered, and Ambank, all work with Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards. Banks with limited or no support: Bank Islam, Affin Bank, CIMB, Public Bank, UOB, Hong Leong Bank, and Alliance Bank don't fully support Apple Pay yet.
Apple Pay is built into iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, iPad and Apple Vision Pro. To get started on iPhone, open the Wallet app and tap the plus symbol. Then add a credit or debit card by tapping the back of your iPhone with your eligible card. You'll have the option to add your card to your other devices at the same time.
