When transferring to or from your U.S. Bank account same business day transfers cut-off times are as follows: Checking, savings and reserve lines: 12 a.m. local time. Checking or savings payments to a first mortgage: 4:30 p.m. CT. All other accounts: 6:00 p.m. local time.
A payment from a U.S. Bank checking or savings account will show it was paid that same day, if it's made before: 6 p.m. local time* on business days. 8 p.m. CT on non-business days.
Cutoff times apply to various types of banking transactions, including wire transfers, check deposits, and electronic ACH transfers. These times can vary from bank to bank or depending on the transaction type within the same bank. Most banks have a cutoff time around 5:00 p.m. local time.
Standard ACH Credit: A Standard ACH Credit pushes funds from one bank account to another—crediting an account. When the transaction is initiated prior to 4 p.m. on a business day that isn't a banking holiday, funds are available in the receiver's bank account as early as the following business day.
Same-day transactions must be received by 11:30am ET. NSCC validates the trade. This guarantees it will be completed even in the event of a default. Transaction is sent to DTC to be settled almost instantaneously on the same day.
If payments are unsuccessful, you are usually notified within two to four business days of the transaction (much quicker than the five to 10 days it takes with paper checks). If you receive a Notification of Change (NOC) rejection, it is important to take immediate action.
Generally, we finish processing the current business day's transactions, and updating account balances, by 8 a.m. CT on the next business day. For example, if you're following up on a check that may have cleared on Tuesday, the information should be available after 8 a.m. CT on Wednesday.

Most transactions post at the end of each business day but posting order and times can vary. Business days for banks are generally Monday - Friday from 9am to 5pm, excluding federal holidays. When will my money be available? The first $225 of your total daily deposits is usually available right away. The rest of your deposit amount will typically be available the next business day (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays) if your deposit was made before 10:00 p.m. Central time.
Bacs payments will usually go into an account between 01:00 and 07:00. This is the standard Bacs payment time, so if a payment doesn't arrive by 07:00, it may be processed the next working day.

If it hasn't posted, either the electronic payment wasn't successfully sent or it's a paper check that hasn't been cashed. If it has posted and it's a paper check, you can print a copy of the front and back of the check from digital banking.

However, the most common reasons why they fail include: Insufficient Funds: In this case, the sender of funds does not have enough balance in their bank account. So, the payment fails. Sometimes, the payment may go through in the first attempt even if the sender's account lacks enough balance.
In many cases when someone tries to send money to a closed bank account, the bank will simply return the funds to the sender or decline the transaction.
