GoFundMe won't let you withdraw due to pending verification (ID, bank details), processing donations (up to 5 days per donation), incorrect bank info, or potential holds for security/compliance; check the red banner on your Transfers page for specific alerts and provide required documents like ID or bank statements to resolve issues.
The primary reason withdrawals often fail is due to an incorrect routing number or bank account number. It's advisable to verify with your bank the correct number of digits to input (this information can also be found at the bottom of one of the checks for that account).
Once your fundraising campaign begins receiving online donations, you can easily request a withdrawal at any time.
To set up bank transfers on a desktop, follow the steps below.
Donations received via GoGetFunding Card Payments can be withdrawn from your campaign's eWallet and deposited into your bank account once a 7 day clearing period for each donation has lapsed. It should be noted that you will need to complete a standard verification process before withdrawing those funds.
You can withdraw money from your bank account via ATM using your debit card and PIN, by visiting a bank branch with ID to use a withdrawal slip or write a check to yourself, or by transferring funds to another account/bank. The most common methods are using an ATM (card + PIN) or going inside the bank for over-the-counter service.
Ask friends and family to share on your behalf
Your friends and family are great resources for spreading the news. Ask if they would consider sharing your fundraiser with their social media networks. Their networks will allow your fundraiser to be seen by even more potential donors.
Please note, online payment systems, like PayPal, Venmo, and CashApp, often don't meet document requirements to transfer funds. If you prefer an online banking option, true online banks, like Ally Bank (US only), are the better choice.
Payment Processors
GoFundMe itself does not hold any funds raised on our Platform, nor does it handle the actual processing of payments. Instead, we use third-party payment processors to manage and process all donations for Fundraisers.
This means that once you complete a donation it can take up to 5 business days to process and become available on the GoFundMe. Please refrain from making several donation attempts. If you don't see your donation after 5 business days, please contact our support team.
GoFundMe Pro customers on our Partner pricing plan can call us for help at (619) 369-2396. Please leave your information, and our team will call you back within 24 hours. Our phone support operates through a call-back system to ensure you receive the most efficient and timely assistance.
Keep your information safe by never posting your email address, phone number, bank numbers, or any other sensitive details in your fundraiser story.
Our team might need additional information before we can send your funds. You can check this within your GoFundMe account on your "Transfers" page. If we need additional documents or weren't able to verify documents you've already provided, you'll see a red banner detailing what the issue is.
To withdraw money from GoFundMe, log in to your account, go to your fundraiser's dashboard, select the "Transfers" or "Withdraw" button, and follow prompts to enter your bank details in the secure portal for direct deposit, which usually arrives in 2-5 business days after verification. You'll need to provide personal information and potentially government ID or bank statements for identity verification.
Getting money from GoFundMe involves two main steps: donations first process (up to 5 business days), then transfers to your bank take another 2-5 business days, meaning funds can arrive in 3-10 business days, though initial setup and verification can add time (up to 7-10 days), with options for daily, weekly, or monthly payouts after verification.
Insert your debit or ATM card into the slot provided in the ATM machine. Choose the language you would like to see the instructions in. Enter your 4 digit pin number and press enter. Choose from the available services like, Withdrawal, Deposit, Balance enquiry, etc.
Rules vary by bank, but limits are typically lowest for ATM withdrawals (ranging from $300 to $1,000), somewhat higher for debit card transactions (commonly around $5,000), and highest for in-person withdrawals at a teller (often up to $20,000).
That rule was removed in 2020, so there is no longer a federal cap on withdrawals. Still, many banks continue to enforce their own limits. This means you could face restrictions or fees depending on your bank's policy, even though the law no longer requires it.
