Verse 9:16 of the Quran (Surah At-Tawbah, Ayat 16) addresses believers, questioning if they thought they would be left alone without Allah testing who among them truly strives in His cause and relies solely on Him, His Messenger, and fellow believers. It highlights that Allah is fully aware of all actions.
It means to tell them plainly: “Now that you have embraced Islam, you shall have to give a genuine proof by a trial that you have accepted it because you believe in its truth and not because it has become supreme in the country by the exertions of the true believers.
Yusufali: Has the story of Moses reached thee? Qarib: When he saw a fire, he said to his family: 'Stay here, for I can see a fire. Perhaps I can bring you a lighted torch or find at the fire guidance. '

(And when the sacred months have passed then) According to the most accepted view this means the truce period i.e. the four months mentioned in verse 9:2, the commands in this verse was to be carried out after this period of respite had elapsed. The Quran, chapter 9 (At-Tawba), verses 2–6: 9:2 “You ˹polytheists˺ may travel freely through the land for four months, but know that you will have no escape from Allah, and that Allah will disgrace the disbelievers.”
The reality of 9 is deeply intertwined with the concept of annihilation in the Ocean of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). It signifies the power of annihilation, where one's uniqueness and identity are completely effaced, bringing the individual into the uniqueness of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
The only woman explicitly named in the Quran is Maryam (Mary), mother of the Prophet Jesus (Isa), who holds a uniquely honored status, mentioned seventy times and with an entire chapter (Surah Maryam) named after her, recognized as the greatest woman to have lived.
9:5 But once the Sacred Months have passed, kill the polytheists ˹who violated their treaties˺ wherever you find them, capture them, besiege them, and lie in wait for them on every way. But if they repent, perform prayers, and pay alms-tax, then set them free. Indeed, Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
The verse is divided into two parts: one in which Allah ﷻ will not destroy the people as long as the Prophet ﷺ is among them (a temporary condition), and another where Allah will not punish them as long as they are asking for forgiveness (a permanent condition).
6. And if anyone of the polytheists asks you for protection, give him protection so that he may hear the Word of God; then escort him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know.
During his prophethood, Moses is said to have performed many miracles, and is also reported to have personally talked to God, who bestows the title 'Speaker of God' (Kalīm Allāh) upon Moses.
Mary was making memories. She was collecting a sort of mental scrapbook. The other key word in this verse is the word, “pondered.” The Greek word means “to throw thoughts together; mull over, draw conclusions, consider, confer mentally.” Another definition for ponder is to wonder at a deep level.
According to the word of the Lord, and the Lord buried him in the valley of Moab. Yahweh buried Moses. We don't know exactly what this meant, but we see from the following verse that it meant that no one else knew where Moses was. There was a private funeral, only God Himself buried Moses.
Surat Al-A'lā is among the most recited suras in the Jummah and Witr prayers. Regarding the timing and contextual background of the believed revelation (asbāb al-nuzūl), it is one of the earlier "Meccan surahs", which means that it is believed to have been revealed in Mecca, rather than later in Medina.
In Judaism, 3 and 7 are both considered perfect numbers; for the Christians, 7 is a holy number because of the Genesis, and also 3 for the trinity. For Muslims, 786 is sacred because the Arabic letters of the opening phrase of the Quran add up to the numerical value of 786.
Many people believe that 786 represents Bismillah-ir- Rahman-ir-Rahim and use it as a substitute, but Islam does not support numerology. Assigning hidden meanings to numbers is not from the Qur'an or Sunnah. Instead, it originates from cultural practices and external influences.
In Islamic eschatology, Jesus' significance lies in his future role rather than his death or resurrection. Muslims believe that Jesus will return at the end of time to restore justice and defeat the false messiah (Al-Masih ad-Dajjal).
In the Quran, specifically Surah An-Nahl (16:66), milk is described as "pure" and "palatable to drinkers," emerging from the bellies of cattle "from between digested food and blood," highlighting Allah's power to create purity from impure substances, a divine lesson in sustenance, and a sign of God's mercy and creative ability, symbolizing nourishment and blessings.
The first part of the Qur'anic verse 33:33 is clearly referring to the wives of the Prophet (s).
(9:5) But when the sacred months expire slay those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity wherever you find them; seize them, and besiege them, and lie in wait for them. But if they repent and establish the Prayer and pay Zakah, leave them alone. Surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Ever-Merciful. 6.
The full context makes clear that this verse was a command to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions to fight hostile idolaters, not to wage war against all non-believers or force anyone to accept Islam.
(5:9) Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds forgiveness from sins and a great reward. (5:10) As for those who disbelieve and give the lie to Our signs, they are destined for the Blazing Flame.
Islam has a clear stance: your sex is your gender, and there are only two genders—male and female. While Islam also acknowledges intersex individuals (known as Kuntha in Islamic jurisprudence), they have their specific laws.
Maryam (Mary)
Mary, the mother of Jesus and the sister of Aaron, is amongst the most important women in the Quran. Moreover, she is the only woman named in the Quran. She is described as one of the greatest women of all time in the Quran as well.
According to Shia Muslim tradition, Fatimah is the only biological daughter of the Prophet, while his other daughters are the biological children of his wife's previous husbands. Sunni Muslims, however, believe that all four daughters are Muhammad's own.
