Each bank has different rules, but you can expect most direct deposits to hit your bank account at midnight. This is because some financial institutions update their accounts a few hours after midnight.
If you make a transfer before 6pm (AEST/AEDT) on a business day, the payee will usually get the funds the following business day. If it's after 6pm (AEST/AEDT) or on a weekend or public holiday they'll get the funds within two business days.

Funds deposited before 9:00 p.m. ET on a business day will generally be available the next business day. Funds deposited before 8:00 p.m. PT on a business day will generally be available the next business day. You will be notified if a hold is placed on any deposited funds.
Generally, pending transactions clear within one to five business days, but the exact timing depends on the type of transaction, the payment network, and the bank or credit card issuer.
Bacs payments will usually go into an account between 01:00 and 07:00. This is the standard Bacs payment time, so if a payment doesn't arrive by 07:00, it may be processed the next working day.
If your deposit is completed before 10 p.m. ET on a business day, your funds will also be available to pay checks or items during nightly processing. If your deposit is completed after 10 p.m. ET, your funds will be available to pay checks or items presented on the next business day.
First, banks do not process each individual transaction (deposit or withdrawal) as it happens. As transactions come to the bank during the day, they are collected and held until the evening. At some time during the night, usually over the course of several hours, all the transactions are processed in batches.
Because ACH transfers are processed in batches, direct ACH payments typically take one to three business days to appear in the recipient's account—longer than it generally takes to process wire transfers, credit card transactions, and ATM transactions. No international payments.
Example: If a bank is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, then those hours are considered the bank's banking day. If a customer makes a deposit at 6:00 pm on Friday, it will not be processed until the next banking day, which would be Monday.
What time of day does direct deposit hit? Usually, you'll have access to your direct deposit at the opening of business on your payday — by 9 a.m. In many cases, direct deposits hit accounts even earlier, often between midnight and 6 a.m. on payday morning.

We send payments to other banks every hour between 9am and midnight every day. Payments submitted after midnight will be sent after 9am. Depending on the receiving bank's timeframes, the recipient could see the money in their account quickly after you make a payment or it may show overnight.
Definition. The “nightly process” (as CircuiTree refers to it) is shorthand for a set of automated processes run for a particular company. These processes typically begin around 12:30 am Central US time and usually operate over the next two to three hour period.
What time your direct deposit hits depends on the financial institution. Some banks make wired funds available to recipients immediately, especially on transfers between accounts at the same institution.
Monitoring ACH Transfers
If a payment hasn't appeared within three days, contact your bank or perform an ACH trace number lookup to pinpoint the transaction's status. Banks can trace the funds by reviewing the transaction date, amount, and trace number, ensuring the transferred funds reach their intended destination.
Same-day ACH, which typically requires an additional fee, processes the same business day. For regular ACH payments, ODFIs generally settle at 8:30 AM the following business day for debit requests, and 8:30 AM the second business day for credits.
Generally, a bank must make the first $225 from the deposit available—for either cash withdrawal or check writing purposes—at the start of the next business day after the banking day that the deposit is made. The rest of the deposit should generally be available on the second business day.
Daily ATM withdrawal limits generally reset at midnight, or shortly after.
A night cycle, created in 1979, is used to process Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers (debits and credits) at night—generally between 10:00 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
If we receive your deposit before 11 PM Eastern time, we'll process it that same business day, and you can withdraw your funds by the second business day after the day of deposit (additional delays may apply).
Transfers completed after 8 pm Pacific Time on a business day will appear as “pending,” but will be available to pay your transactions that night as long as they are completed prior to our nightly processing (which generally occurs just after midnight, Pacific Time).
